What is Palliative Care?
In its simplest form, palliative care is centered around improving the quality of life for patients dealing with a serious illness. By focusing on the physical and emotional needs that may arise, palliative care seeks to minimize the impact these limitations may present.
Palliative care provides a layer of support that can serve many purposes. From help navigating the often complex medical system to targeting the symptoms associated with curative care plans, palliative care is an added benefit that can ease many of the burdens that result from the illness or the treatment of the illness.
How Can I Benefit from Palliative Care?
Serious illnesses come in many forms, as do the challenges associated with them. The Center for Hope’s Palliative Care Program is designed with this in mind.
After a full medical evaluation, we’ll discuss plans and options and, most importantly, what issues are of your highest concern. Your palliative care plan can include physical problems (like pain, shortness of breath or trouble sleeping, for example), emotional and spiritual concerns, or the practical problems brought on by an illness.
A proper palliative care plan can address any or all of these issues, bridge the gaps in your doctor’s care plan, and help you remain as independent as possible.

What is the Difference Between Hospice and Palliative Care?
Both hospice care and palliative care have the goal of reducing pain and effective symptom management in the face of a serious or life-limiting illness. However, palliative care can begin as soon as a diagnosis is reached and can occur concurrently with active treatment.
